I looked pretty closely at the decals on the gastank, and from what I can tell it looks like they are actually mounted UNDERNEATH the clearcoat. Seems to me that removing them would cause a big mess, and hence I have never seen a Savage with factory paint w/o decals. The only Savages I've seen without the decals also have a custom paint job.
I could be wrong, though.
